A brief history of the Chicago & North Western line from Eagle Grove to Hawarden:

06/26/21

Located in Dakota City, this through girder bridge crosses 1st Avenue.
Built in 1902, the bridge features a single through girder span, set onto stone abutments. This bridge follows a typical design for through girder bridges along the C&NW Iowa Division.
Currently, the bridge is owned by Humboldt County, and is operated as the Three Rivers Trail.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition. A recent coat of paint has improved the condition of the bridge.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design.
